Transit
A meditation

Dear friend,
I’m so happy to share “Transit” with you today.
This piece has stayed close to me for a long time, almost like a quiet companion during a period where life felt a bit scattered and in-motion.
“Transit” came from a feeling I know well: being somewhere between places, between versions of myself, between what’s next and what’s been. Airports at night, long train rides, empty hotel rooms, the strange stillness of moving while not really arriving.
Writing it felt like pressing pause inside that movement — a moment to breathe.
One night in December 2024, I sat down and recorded the whole piece in one take. No grid, no editing, just how it came out. A few weeks later, Lisa Buchholz visited my studio and added her improvised flugelhorn lines. The way she played felt like someone answering a thought I hadn’t fully expressed yet.
The artwork also grew slowly. It started as a tiny postcard painting — watercolor on textured paper — something I made during a quiet moment.
Later I reworked the background and animated every dot by hand. It became its own kind of meditation. Watch the full visualizer: Transit (Official Visualizer)
“Transit” is also a transition for me creatively — my first non-solo piano release, and the beginning of sharing music in new forms and with new instrumentation.
If you’d like to support the project, you can also download “Transit” in high-resolution audio on Bandcamp: Transit on bandcamp
Thank you for listening — truly. Sharing these pieces with you makes the whole journey feel less solitary. I hope “Transit” brings you a moment of calm in those places between departure and arrival.
As always — if you don’t want to receive these updates anymore, you can simply unsubscribe at any time, no hard feelings.
Take care,
Klaus
